Description

The Great Orion Nebula
Constellation: Orion

One of my favorites, the Orion Nebula located below the Orion's Belt asterism and is a naked eye nebula, looking like a bright fuzzy star. The nebula is a reflection nebula, reflecting the light of nearby stars, instead of emitting the light due to being ionized. Located at around 1,300 light-years, it is also one of the closest star forming regions to Earth. The core of this target is a very young star cluster known as the Trapezium.

On the processing side, I knew this target was a high dynamic range target, having both dim and very bright areas, so I kept my exposures to 60 seconds per sub, compared to 120 or 180 seconds i normally do. But this was still too much for the core, being blown out. So I may grab more Integration of really short exposures of maybe 15 seconds to retain detail in the core.
