Description

A first attempt at imaging portions of the delicate molecular clouds visible near the South Pole.

This region in Octans was selected after browsing through Nina's offline sky map cache and picking an area that seemed to combine interesting structure with some nicely contrasting colourful stars - not very scientific I know! I'm not sure if this object has an official designation (I can't find one) - please let me know in the comments if so.

Unwanted gradients were a challenge. I ended up writing some software to estimate the RGB pedestal levels on a grid, smoothly interpolating between the grid points and then subtracting from the final image.
