Description

NGC 1313 is one of my favourite galaxies.  A beautiful barred spiral, that has been spectacularly disrupted by a galaxy collision in the past.  Not unlike a more distant version of the LMC, although in this case the other galaxy is  nowhere to be seen.

Found some old Chilescope luminance data [1.25hours worth] to which I added 12hr of  LRGB + Ha data I had been collecting in the latter parts of the night with my RC8.   Required a bit of a tricky combination to not destroy the detail in the Chilescope L  data, while preserving the additional depth provided from the RC data.  I have also include a starless version, just to show the extended nature of the disrupted galaxy.  I do like the way this image shows different colours on either side of the galaxy, most likely caused by differing amounts of dust extinction.
