Description

This is Mu1 or Murrell 1. It was discovered by me in 2004 and confirmed by Dr. Quentin Parker in 2007. I was looking at the DSS plates and had selected the incorrect coordinates for a Supernova remnant on the B plates. I noticed that there was what looked like a Planetary where no planetary was listed. I noted the coordinates and contacted Brian Skiff. He came back a few days later and said there was no object listed and it appeared on several other plates so it wasn't just a plate flaw. He recommended I contact Quentin Parker and the rest is history. It did take some time to confirm the status of the object but the spectral analysis of the central confirmed it was a Planetary nebula.  I have had a group in France send me an image they took about 4 years back which I have hanging in my office but I wanted to capture the planetary for myself. So this is my Planetary.
