Description

My most ambitious Moon project yet!

The Moon was taken with a high resolution planetary camera at a long focal length using lucky imaging techniques. (Lots of short exposures)
12 Panels consisting of 100 short exposures were created to cover each segment of the moon.
To reduce atmospheric disturbance and reduce noise, the best 30 frames from each panel were combined to make a single image.
All 12 images were stitched together to form a single 110 megapixel master.
The master image was finally processed in PixInsight to add a little colour and detail.
The seeing conditions were not ideal due to a jet stream over Southern Spain, but the lucky imaging made a good job of stabilising the images.
