Description

NGC 5965 is an edge-on spiral galaxy in the constellation Draco. It is about 150 million miles away and has an apparent magnitude of 11.9.

Dust is easily seen across the galactic disk. A prominent buldge is also evident at its core.
NGC 5965 lies in a loose group with other galaxies, NGC 5981, NGC 6982, and NGC 5985 (the 3 galaxies known as the Sampler).

I actually captured the NGC 5965 - NGC 5963 pair in the same frame, but decided to focus on NGC 5965. NGC 5963 is not actually related to NGC 5965 since it is actually much closer (~89 million light years).
