Description

Location: Triangulum Constellation
Distance: ± 3.2 million lightyears
Diameter: ~60,000 lightyears
Stars: ± 40 billion

This target was too large to fit in one frame with my telescope/camera combination so - to capture the whole thing I had to image each half of the galaxy independently & merge it all together in the end - this image was a serious learning curve & love/hate thing throughout. I am however happy with this as a final result, & happy to put this data to rest for a while!

Total imaging time (on target): 39.756 hours
Total integration time (best 80%): 33.13 hours
Integration (L+Ha, R+Ha, G, B) as follows:

86 x 420s Luminance - 1x1 bin (43 per panel)
54 x 840s H-Alpha - 2x2 bin (27 per panel)
40 x 315s Red - 2x2 bin (20 per panel)
40 x 315s Green - 2x2 bin (20 per panel)
40 x 315s Blue - 2x2 bin (20 per panel)
 - 14 flats per night & filter,
    21 darks per exposure type,
    28 bias per binning level.

Data captured with sensor placed at -15°C, at scales of 0.84”/pixel, 1.68”/pixel & over 7 nights between October 5th 2021 & November 7th 2021.

Main equipment used:
William Optics FLT 132
Avalon Linear FR
Atik One 9.0 + Chroma filters
