Description

I describe Sh2-73 as unusual in the Sharpless Catalogue because it is an area of IFN, located well outside the main band of the Milky Way in Hercules. The Sharpless Catalogue covers areas of HII, so this was one of a few that were catalogued essentially in error. Although faint, I guess it's fairly bright for an area of IFN, and must have shown up on the Palomar  Sky Survey that Stewart Sharpless used in compiling his catalogue.
