Description

About 1.5 h of  OSC  RGB capture at F 5.0 and f 1000 mm  via a UHC filter was considerably sharpened up  by using  ca.1.5h of mono camera HA capture as luminance.  Seeing was poor and because of blocking  trees/ houses the object could only be imaged as it ascended from E to SSE at only 25 to 35 degrees above the horizon - thus FWHM values were relatively high.

For most of the image comprising the rosette nebulosity the luminance was purely that from the HA capture since this provided the clearest nebula detail.  However for just the central core region comprising the NGC2244 cluster and nearby line of sight stars the luminance was - after linear calibration - adjusted to be the maximum of the RGB_L and the HA (PixMath Max function).  This preserved the attractive 'jewel box' appearance of the star cluster region and prevented these stars from being too far diminished as when purely the HA luminance was used across the entire image.

Capture was in Sharpcap pro 4.0 and preprocesssing and processing in PixInsight 1.8.
