Description

A Valentines Rose in November - oh well I guess this target is a good one nearly all year. Located at the foot of Cepheus, the Valentines Rose is a region "circling" Polaris in a rather small distance.
I find it interesting to note, that even though this target will commonly be denoted Planetary Nebula, there are investigations that question this. The white dwarf GD 561 clearly visible in the lower part of the O3 Region shows a flight path and velocity quite different to that of the Nebula (Ha). It could well be a combination of a PN moving through a gas rich region, with the radiation of the white dwarf leading to the Ha emmisson.
With a Magnitude of 14,74 the object isn't the brightest. I might come back for more integration time sometime in the future to reveal the faintest details.
