Description

Strange objects in the Chameleon Molecular Cloud. The Chameleon complex is a large star forming region (SFR) at the surface of the Local Bubble that includes the Chameleon I, Chameleon II, and Chameleon III dark clouds. It occupies nearly all of the constellation Chameleon.Deep inside Chameleon 1 lies this interesting area of gas, dust, newborn stars and the strange red triangular object Hebig-Harow 49-50. Light years in length it is the result of energetic outflows from newly formed stars. Chameleon 1 is around 630 light years from earth.
