Description

NGC 6914: Two blue reflection nebula (vdB 131 & vdB 132) provide stark contrast to the enveloping red ionised hydrogen gas within this active star forming region of Cygnus which lies approximately 6,000 light years away. Of special note is an unusual star known as V1515 Cyg which can be seen in the upper left hand corner of this image. V1515 Cyg is a FUor (Orionis)-type star which is surrounded by an accretion disk which brightens and fades over several decades, due to changes in the accretion rate.

Technical details: Celestron Edge HD8 with a ZWO ASI 294MC Pro camera to capture RGB data and a SkyWatcher Esprit 150ED with a ZWO ASI 2600MM Pro camera to capture both Luminance and Hydrogen Alpha data. 20 hours of subexposures were combined and processed in PixInsight.
