Description

Upper left is the Lagoon Nebula (M8, NGC 6523) is a giant interstellar cloud in the constellation Sagittarius. It is classified as an emission nebula. It sits 4,100 light-years away in our Milky Way Galaxy. In lower left is the Trifid Nebula (M20, NGC 6514). To the middle right is NGC 6559 is a star-forming region located at a distance of about 5000 light-years from Earth.
Imaged as two panel mosaic July 22/23, 2006 from MARIETH Observatory in Central Oregon.
