Description

The Bubble Nebula (NGC 7635) is an emission nebula 7100 to 11,000 light years away, in the constellation Cassiopeia. It is being formed by an O star, an extremely bright, massive, and short-lived star that has lost most of its outer hydrogen and is now fusing helium into heavier elements. The star is about 4 million years old, and in 10 million to 20 million years, it will likely detonate as a supernova (https://hubblesite.org/contents/media/images/2016/13/3725-Image.html). This image is 4.56 hours of Ha data, and 4.9 hours of Oiii data, combined with 22.5 minutes of Lum data and 45 minutes of RGB data for the stars. This is the first light for my new backyard observatory, collected over three nights: 21, 25, and 26 October 2022 from a Bortle 6 suburban sky.
