Description

Messier 81 is a beautiful galaxy and one of the brightest galaxies in the sky and also known as Bode's galaxy for its 18th century discoverer. Bode's galaxy is accompanied by Messier 82, which is known as the Cigar galaxy or NGC 3034.

Messier 82 is a uniquely shapped DSO and shines brightly in the infrared wavelength spectrum. The odd shape comes from gravitational ineractions with it's stellar neighbor Messier 81, which also carries the designation of NGC 3031.

Both galaxies were imaged using a ZWO LRGB filter set and a ASI2600mm Pro camera,  using 1 hour of exposure time due to weather inclinations.
