Description

The Dolphin Head nebula ( cataloged as SH2-308 ) is one that really looks like it's namesake.

Fast winds from the bright central Wolf-Rayet star create the bubble-shaped nebula.  It lies in the Canis Major constellation approximately 70,000 light years away.

This image is created from almost 7 hours of 3 minute exposures with the L-eXtreme filter, which allows my colour camera to efficiently capture both HA and OIII spectral emissions, even under light polluted suburban skies.
Combined with an hour of unfiltered 60 second exposures for natural star colours.
