Description

NGC 6914 is a reflection nebula about 6000 light years away in the constellation of Cygnus. I shot this in R, G, B, Lum and Ha. I tried diffident ways of combining those masters and ended up combining the RGB and Lum then using a Masters of Pixinsight pixel math formula to add the Ha to the RGBLum. I know there is considerable discussion about whether to and when to use Luminance and Ha in the same image but I feel that the the Lum added some structure and the Ha definitely added depth. I did linear fit the Lum to the RGB image and I felt that was an important step in avoiding the Luminance wiping out the color in the RGB combination. I also used MLT for some sharpening with 7 layers plus a residual. It is important to keep that subtle but I feel that is a powerful tool , particularly on nebulas.
