Description

NGC 4395 is an unusual dwarf Seyfert galaxy. Its central black hole could be as small as 10000 solar masses, which would make it one of the few known "intermediate-size" black holes. Its distance is about 15 Million light years, making its size 55000 light years. It has a quite extended halo, some of which can be seen here.

There are a lot of background galaxies in this image. I especially like the probably face-on spiral PGC 2036707 in the upper right hand corner. At 0.4 arc min angular size and a distance of 1.1 billion light years it would be about 125000 light years cross.
