Sh 2-132 (Cep) / The Lion Nebula - OSC 90/500Tipp: Please compare to the

transparency gave hope that it would not be too daring to photograph the
Lion Nebula in the last corner of the
Cepheus constellation with an
OSC camera, a rather small aperture of only
90 mm and a focal length of 500mm.
The vast majority of images of this
HII region were taken with
monochrome cameras and/or
narrowband filters as well as bigger
apertures for increased resolution.
Since the nights are longer again at the end of September, I exposed for a good
6 hours - without guiding and without focus control after the meridian flip. Everything worked, the raw data looked clean. After stacking the
375 x 60s seconds, the disillusionment came: covered by countless stars almost beyond recognition, I immediately realized that this would be a challenge when editing the image.
I sat down anyway and this is my current result, improved by
Pixel Math -
