Description

M63, sometimes called the Sunflower Galaxy, is situated about 29m light years away.  It is in the constellation Canes Venatici and is part of the same group of galaxies as M51, the Whirlpool Galaxy.  It is a flocculant spiral galaxy, that is to say its spiral arms, at least in visible light, are patchy/discontinuous.
