Description

This is 69x30s using long focal length and AltAz mount. It is my first SHO-forax colored image. (my 2nd color image over all)
The Crab Nebula's brain like structure is really interesting, however the main reason for choosing it as a target that night was that I was looking for an DSO that would be ideally positioned in the sky to accommodate my equipment.
As most people know AltAz mounts introduce quickly a lot of  field rotation. This effect is independent from the quality of your tracking. It is limiting your exposure time to about 30s highest. (At least it doesn't matter how long your focal length is, since rotation is rotation.) On top of this limitation I can't go higherthen 70 degrees with the AltAz, because the camera will collide with the mount.
So what I did was using Stellarium to locate a good candidate: I set it to the day and time I was planning to capture, locked on a target and switched the time one hour forward and backwards. This keeps the target in the center of the view and you can see how much the background stars will rotate.

On February 13th from 22:30-23:30 Crab Nebula was below 70 degree and only very little rotating from my observation site. That gave me time for 30 frames per filter (LHSO). There was only little wind that night and I could keep most of my images.
I didn't shoot RGB for the stars since my time window seemed too narrow. The stars are processed R: Ha / G: 0.2*Ha + 0.8*Oiii / B: Oiii

(I realized during post processing that I didn't really need L.)
