Big geek here. I've been interested in astronomy and astrophotography for many years. Only recently got back into it this year, 2023, after buying a new modern rig.
I worked as a software engineer for 40 years before retiring. A majority of my work revolved around various aspects of cartography. I spent my initial career on the rectification of digital imaging from aerial photographs for mapping purposes. Along the line I worked on animation, database design and large image data storage. I ended my career working for Boeing on electronic mapping and navigation for aircraft.
