Description

In order to test my new mono camera I decided to aim it in a not very well known area that is located between the famous Carina Nebula and the Statue of Liberty.
It was a difficult object to process due to the high dynamic range and the fact that combining the different emission lines resulted in an infinite number of colors that made it difficult to decide how to balance the different channels. I made countless versions of it until I decided on this one.

NGC 3503 is a bright and small (~3′ in diameter) optical emission nebula in the constellation of Carina , ionized by early B-type stars belonging to the open cluster Pis 17.
It is seen projected onto an extended region of medium brightness in Hα known as RCW 54.This enormous nebular region lies in the direction of the Car OB2 association and parts of it may be ionised by stars in that association.

Studies of the distribution of molecular gas and interstellar dust in the surroundings of the H II NGC 3503 region associated with the open cluster Pis 17 have been presented, with the aim of investigating the spatial distribution of molecular gas linked to the nebula and achieving a better understanding the interaction of the nebula and Pis 17 with its molecular environment. The results of it are shown here:
