Description

NGC 4236 is a barred Megellanic spiral galaxy in Draco. Megellanic spiral galaxies are usually small and only have a single spiral arm. They are often considered to be intermediate between dwarf spiral galaxies and irregular galaxies. I needed a soft target while I waited for my current project to get into prime position and this galaxy has a very strong HA emission. I actually began imaging this back in 2022 with a different telescope but never finished. At the time I had no idea there was this much HA so I'm glad I circled back around even though galaxies don't do much for me.
