Description

The Veil Nebula is a cloud of heated and ionized gas, constituting the visible segments of the Cygnus Loop, the remnant of a star 20 times more massive than the Sun which exploded as a supernova 10,000 to 20,000 years ago.  The Eastern Veil is sometimes known as the Network Nebula.  This view was captured at the OCA observation site near Anza, California on September 14, 2023 and is the result of stacking and combining 40 exposures of 5 minutes each, shot using a Celestron RASA-11 telescope with a ZWO ASI2600MC one-shot color camera, on an Astro-Physics 1200GTO mount.  Focusing was accomplished with a ZWO EAF, guiding with a 50mm Borg scope and Starlight Xpress Ultrastar monochrome guide camera.  Software used includes Sequence Generator Pro for capture, PHD2 for guiding, and PixInsight and Adobe Lightroom for development.
