Description

An open cluster of stars in the constellation Scorpius, estimated distance 980 light years.  Also designated NGC 6475.  This is the southernmost Messier object.   It contains about 80 stars within a diameter of 25 light-years and is about 200 million years old.  It is also one of the few Messier objects so far not imaged by the Hubble Space Telescope.
