Description

This is my third color target. The reason why I chose M64 those nights is this:
I use an Alt-Az mount and a mono camera with filter wheel.

Complications:
The steepest angle I can shoot upwards is 70 degrees, then the camera collides with the fork mount.
Field rotation is a huge deal. Not only can it drastically reduce the exposure time, it also can lead to a much smaller framing after stacking all differently oriented filtered images.

The goal:
Shooting 30s exposures and keep as much of the camera framing as possible.

My solution:
There are certain directions and times where there is fairly little to almost no field rotation in your relative view. This is usually almost precisely facing west or east.
Any target in that direction between 40-70degrees up gives me a window of about 2h for shooting as many 30s subs as possible
On the 11th and 13th of March (2023) M64 fell into this window.

After deleting bad images I ended up with
Red x 24 (30)
Green x 21 (30)
Blue x 36 (16+30 day2)
Luminance x 24 (30)
H alpha x 27 (30 day2)

However I ended up processing only R/G/B.
