Description

The Monkey Head Nebula

From Wikipedia:

NGC 2174 (also known as Monkey Head Nebula) is an H II emission nebula located in the constellation Orion and is associated with the open star cluster NGC 2175. It is thought to be located about 6,400 light-years away from Earth. The nebula may have formed through hierarchical collapse.

Weather still not cooperating, so I dug back into my old dslr data to see if there was a target that I didn’t have in my Astrobin library that I could apply a new process to.
Well, I found it in NGC 2174, the Monkey Head nebula.

Most of my datasets from this time were very low in total integration, but this one was a massive 4 ½ hours! Comprised of 300 second lights with no filter (Ha modified Nikon D5300).
300 second lights unfiltered lights were a bit much for the stars! I had to do some spot repairs!

Just for comparison, here is my original process from January of 2020.

Now I have a Monkeys Head to add to my collection.

Thanks for looking and comments welcome!
