Description

The nights were already getting shorter in the north of Germany but the bright supernova could still be seen. I captured this image a bit undersampled with a Canon 6D at 1000mm focal length. Drizzling 2x then applying BlurXterminator and finally resampling to the original size actually revealed some more detail in the galaxy. Russ Croman suggested this workflow in his recent talk on the astro imaging channel on YouTube.
