Description

The Vela Supernova Remnant (Vela SNR) is a vast and prominent supernova remnant located in the constellation of Vela, about 800 light-years from Earth. Resulting from the explosion of a massive star that occurred approximately 11,000 to 12,000 years ago, the Vela SNR is an important subject of study in astronomy. It provides insights into the physics of supernova explosions, stellar evolution, and the role of supernovae in the formation of heavy chemical elements.
