Description

The main galaxy in this group, NGC-5965, is a type Sb galaxy which lies approximately 150 million light years from earth.  It is inclined almost 80 degrees from our line of sight, so it is seen almost edge-on. It is a large galaxy, over 200,000 light years in diameter. It was discovered by Sir William Herschel in 1788.  Other NGC galaxies in this field are (clockwise from upper left) NGCs 5963, 5969 and 5971.
