Description

Palomar 4 is a small globular cluster in UMa. The size of the cluster is 2 arcmin only with brightest Stars mag 18! He is in a distance of 330.000 Lj which is farther away than the Magellanic clouds.

There are 15 such clusters on the Palomar list, all of them a challenge.

The bright and almost big Galaxy in the center of the field ist 2MFGC 8985 from the Simbad catalog. The size of the Galaxy is 30 x 9 arcsec only!!

There are plenty of other Galaxies in the background. On the right side in the middle is a group of really very distant galaxies where I could find some names in the Simbad Catalog, but no further details.

The picture is a crop from the original FF Nikon, otherwise the Galaxies and the GC would be too small! Nevertheless itsworth to go to full resolution to see all the faint fuzzies!
