Description

This image shows the dusty expanse from the region of the California Nebula (NGC 1499) to the Perseus Molecular Cloud, which contains two star-forming regions (IC 348 and NGC 1333).

Data was acquired over two nights, and I had to throw out a lot of subs from night 2 due to some passing high clouds. I also had a lot of vignetting and light pollution gradients, but after my third set of flats I was able to get rid of most of it. I think slowing down the exposure time for the flats helped the most.

It's the first time I've used a luminance mask, and I think that worked really well in revealing the dust.

Description: Reprocessed using SPCC and BlurXTerminator in PI, but that in itself didn't make a significant difference in the final image. I also added a more aggressive luminosity mask in PS to highlight more of the dust.
