Description

The IFN slashes through this polar portrait of Ngc 2276 and Ngc 2300, whose chromatic contrast reminds of iconic double star Albireo. The pair, which is gravitationally bound, is also known as Arp25 (Ngc 2276) and Arp 114 (Ngc 2300). A pletora of smaller background galaxies peppers the field with bright stars adding drama to the panorama. Ngc 2276 hosted six discovered supernovae and the distance is estimated at 120 million light years. An LRGB rendition.
