My poor Redcat 51 is a bit out of it's element during galaxy season. So many interesting galaxies to shoot but at 250mm many of them are so tiny in the FOV, especially when combined with a APS-C sensor.
Nonetheless I had a go at a widefield shot of one of my favourite galaxies, the Pinwheel (M101)
I like the way the stars turned out in this image, I made use of a couple of stretching scripts which I hadn't used before. One for the combined image and another for the stars, which I later used to replace the stars in the combined image. I like the way both scripts work, it's quite easy to try different amounts and options until you get the results you want, both are by setiastro and can be found here for anyone interested:
