Description

"THE ROSE IN THE SKY"
- Widefield 250mm
- Area Constellation Monoceros

The Rosette Nebula is a diffuse emission nebula with an embedded open star cluster in the constellation of the Unicorn. The nebula has a size of 80.0' × 60.0' and an apparent magnitude of 6.0. Distance to Earth, a good 5 light years. Open star cluster NGC 2244 in the center. Gases are made to glow by the surrounding stars, giving us this wonderful sight, the rose of the night sky :-)
Recorded with an astro-modified EOS-R, UVIRCUT LP2 astronomical filter for RGB and narrow-band filter DuoNB from STC, as optics the RedCat 51 with 250mm. A total of 92x 180s Lights RGB at ISO800 and 19x 1200s Lights DuoNB, all at f/5.

Conditions for registration:
Partly clear night with light wafts of cloud, directly out of the city with Bortle 7 sky and clear light pollution.

And another rework, from a recording session from about a year ago, i.e. December 2021. Prepared as a HOO narrow band version, with RGB stars. I trimmed the stars after Daniel Nimmervoll's last video with a star mask of the DuoNB filter's hAlpha data - works well :-) The star colors are also shown to advantage here thanks to the new Pixinsight module SSPC.
