Horsehead and Flame Nebula (Barnard 33 and NGC 2024)

The Horsehead Nebula (Barnard 33), and the Flame Nebula (NGC 2024) in the constellation of Orion.

The nebula is located just to the south of Alnitak it's the brightest star in the picture and it's hard to get rid of the halo... In any case, it's the easternmost star of Orion's Belt and is part of the much larger Orion molecular cloud complex.

In the picture, we can also see other small nebulas like the NGC 2023 next to the Horsehead with the blue emission, or the IC 423 next to the Flame nebula, with the red reflection.

This is a very common region for astrophotographers, not only because of the number of deep sky objects you can find but also for how spectacular it looks.

I always dreamed of achieving a picture like this. Especially in a highly polluted area like Barcelona it was hard for me but studying and practicing makes the master I guess. I tried this region several nights and I never was happy enough to share it.

Today marks another checkpoint in my journey and despite a few errors in my data acquisition and the halo of Alnitak, I'm happy enough to share it with you.

I hope you enjoy this picture as much as I enjoyed my journey and learnings to finish it.
