Description

Messier 97, affectionally known as the Owl Nebula, is a planetary nebula in Ursa Major which is approximately 2000 light-years from Earth. It was discovered by French astronomer Pierre Méchain on February 16, 1781. Current estimations date it to be around 8000 years old.

I was finally able to collect some OIII data but not under ideal conditions as seeing was below average and the moon was around 75% illumination. Given the few clear nights I have, I had not much of a choice so I collected a lot of OIII exposures and had to toss out over 60% of them and just use the best of the lot.
