Description

Now, I really didn't think it through that I should have used my 140mm refractor on this comet to get the whole thing, both tails and all.  I was at our club's dark site and that night turned out to be pretty much the last chance to catch the comet in a dark sky before the Moon would come to spoil the darkness and the weather would decline.

Alas, seeing my C11's yield, I decided to feature it as an extreme closeup of the nucleus and coma... because that's what you get with a 2800mm focal length on a sizeable comet.  I did as best of a star removal as I knew to do with a particular PixInsight stacking algorithm, but the star streaks that remain I found I like because they give the picture a bit of motion.  I was pleased with such a tight little nucleus and that great green color, and the hint of both tails' direction, both "ahead" and "behind" the coma.

Next naked eye comet - as of this posting that's speculated to be 12P/Pons-Brooks - I shall have that refractor on hand.  Or both.
