Description

The Pinwheel Galaxy (also known as Messier 101, M101 or NGC 5457) is a face-on spiral galaxy 21 million light-years away from Earth in the constellation Ursa Major.

I recently shot M101 with my Zenithstar 73 refractor but wasn't thrilled with the color and noise in the final image. I was fortunate enough to get my hands on a Celestron EdgeHD 9.25" and thought re-attempting M101 would be a perfect target for first light! I'm thrilled with the result and can't wait to continue down the high-FL SCT learning curve.

This was just under 6 hours of integration time under Bortle 6 skies.
