Description

Ahhh...Summertime astrophotography in central Florida- can't beat it- 96 degrees and 99% humidity- perfect for astrophotography!! But, this is actually my second object this summer- two more than I usually get.  This one is a very quick image, and that is a shame, as I think 15-20hrs would do it more justice, but my coming weeks don't look good at my home observatory.

Sh2-155, The Cave Nebula, is one I have been wanting to capture in much detail but 5 hrs is all I could get.  Despite that, I was pleased with the result given the conditions and limited available time.  It is a diffuse nebula in the constellation Cepheus, within a larger nebula complex containing emission, reflection, and dark nebulosity. It is an estimated distance of 2400 light-years from Earth.

I took this in SHO but actually used a PM formula which gives it more of a HOO look.  I had to use reduced Ha stars but will replace them if I can get 2-3 hrs for RGB stars.
