Description

Imaged over two nights. Target is low in the sky from my location (<30°) and in the direction of a city over the horizon, so there is a lot of light pollution and atmosphere to deal with. I would probably had better luck with a narrow-band filter like an  L-Extreme.  I only stacked half the subframes I acquired. There was just too much atmospheric noise. Adding subs didn't improve the contrast, so I narrowed it down to the sharpest ones to try to improve the details.

First major target with new mount, an Orion Atlas EQ-G with several upgrades. I still have more work to do on it but it's very solid. Shout out to Barry S. who I bought the mount from. It had an issue with the declination worm gear and he made it right without hesitation.

Processing
In Siril:
Registered with Drizzle x2
Polynomial Background Extraction with 1 degree order for each sub-frame before stacking.
RFB Background Extraction after stacking
Autostretch
Exported as Tiff

Created Starless version with Starnet++v2.
Created a 2nd version from original stack with light asinh stretch to preserve star colors.

In Gimp:
Levels edit, Raised black point until background noise was acceptable.
Saturation increase to 1.2.
Layer asinh stretch over starless version.
Cropped to 5200x5200.
Exported final as PNG.
