Description

This beautiful spiral galaxy is located in Camelopardis, actually not far away from Polaris. It is about 100 million ly away from us and estimated to be around 200 00 ly across. At least 8 spiral arms are coming out of the central bulk. According to Wikipedia, the galaxy is "optically"barred - I didn't know such things could exist It's VERY rich in Ha regions. Silly me, I had 4 hours of Ha shot, but when I got back home, it turned out I'd shifted the focuser in at least 15 degrees (don't know how or why!!) and I just couldn't put them in, without severe crop of the image. There was a supernova discovered in 1987, but far from naked eye seeing (of course - it's been 100 mln ly away!)

Hip hip hurray!! I finally managed to process even my Ha data and put it into the whole mess Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!
