Description

Shown here is a portion of IC443 also known as the Jellyfish nebula.  It is a supernova remnant in the constellation of Gemini. It's located 5000 light years away and about 70 light years in diameter. It is riddled with spectacular intertwined filamentary strands of ionized nebulosity. This nebula covers an area of the sky almost twice as large as the full moon.
