Description

NGC 2997 is a face-on unbarred spiral galaxy about 40 million light-years away in the faint southern constellation of Antlia. It was discovered March 4, 1793 by German-born astronomer William Herschel. J. L. E. Dreyer described it as, "a remarkable object, very faint, very large, very gradually then very suddenly bright middle and 4 arcsec nucleus. This is the brightest galaxy of the NGC 2997 group of galaxies.

From ATRIA observatory  with DeepSkyChile  in Chile:
ATRIA Team composed of  6 members : Olivier, Fabien , Frédéric . David , Julien , and myself ;-)

The CDK17" gives a lot of details, I kept only 339 subs from 576 taken in Luminance with FWHM below 2.3" .
It is the work to get nice and fine details  !

And finally, I selected the 48 subs with FWHM better than 1.6"  which give fine details of the galaxy.

Red 20 subs@420s -15°C gain high
Green 20 subs@300s -15°C gain high
Blue 20 subs@300s -15°C gain high
Light 339 subs@180s -15°C, gain high
