Description

The heart Nebula lies 7500 light years away in the Perseus arm of our galaxy. The nebula's red color is driven by the radiation emanating Melotte 15, Only 1.5 million years old, contains a few bright stars nearly 50 times the Sun's mass, plus many more containing only a fraction of a solar mass.

I imaged this, one evening from beautiful Bortle 3 skies at 3000 ft elev. I wanted to capture twice the time, but the second night was far too windy and dusty on top of the Mesa.

I then added L-Extreme data from my backyard a couple nights later.
