How are your skies out there? Probably Bortle 6. The east valley has gotten terribly light polluted. Bortle 8 here now.

Welcome, Martin, from relatively cool (107F/41.6C) and relatively dark (Bortle 5 where I live) Tucson.
I've been tripped up when I look NW after sunset--it often looks like the sunset is lingering. But it's just the Phoenix light dome 100 miles/160 km away.

I'm glad your skies are still descent. I'm planning on moving soon once I sale the house. Thinking of northern Arizona or New Mexico. I'm a Phoenix area native of 60 years. I remember being able to see the Milky Way in the 60's and until around 1979. Now it's just too big of a Metropolis.

Envious of AZ skys... first visit to Phoenix/Mesa was when I was 11 in 1960! Enjoy what you have while it lasts....
