Hi All,

Question: Can the Pegasus Astro indigo OAG screw directly into the ZWO filter wheel (like the ZWO OAG-L)?. It says on the website compatable with multiple different filter wheels and the schematics show screw hole options but I am wondering if anyone has done this?

Background: I need further backspacing to accomodate a multiscope setup and my Esprit 100 ED wont allow for the setup I have unless I find another ~5mm. This seems like the cheapest option vs chaning the filter wheel out etc.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Steve

@Steve Pratley  - did you figure this one out?
I have a similar need.

There is also the Player One FHD OAG Max - https://player-one-astronomy.com/product/fhd-oag-max/

I believe the Indigo does have four mounting holes on the camera face side that will align with the ZWO EFW. When I took a look briefly it looked correct.

Yes but you will have to buy your own smaller (2.5 metric) screws since the ones that come with the Indigo are 3 metric and the EFW is 2.5....

@Bill McLaughlin  is that an Octopi on the other side of the EFW?

Yes, it is going on an Epsilon 130D so tip/tilt is critical. That is also why the Indigo OAG instead of the ZWO OAG-L  - because backspacing is also critical and there is not enough room for the ZWO unit.

Haha, I have the same issue. I bought a standard ZWO OAG which is 16.5mm but the light coming through is not super great so looking for an alternative for my ASI220 guide camera.

Along the same lines, someone makes this 3D printed add-on for the Indigo. I just ran across it, have not tried it. I have a 3D printer that can do most filaments so may design something similar when I have time....

I just tried it on the horizon (PP adapter just showed up) and I am getting decent illumination even on my larger ZWO ASI174MINI. Still need to try it on the sky (if it ever clears )....  Clearance for adjustment of the Octopi is really tight, down to minimums, otherwise the Indigo barrel would strike the LEO.system_2.jpg

Wauu, you have room for a rotator there as well.
What’s your backfocus demands? - 55mm I guess?
12.5mm for camera
20mm for efw (I assume)
a minimum of 3 for the Octopi
10 as a minimum for the Indigo OAG
Which rotator do you have?

Not a rotator. The focuser is an Optec LEO Low profile focuser....  The E130D back focus from the flattener is 56.2 mm. Adjusted for the Astronomik filters it is 56.5 mm.

Hey all - glad that this channel is providing others with ideas when dealing with a tight back focus. I managed to test the Indigo OAG on Tuesday night and it performed really well - comparable to my ZWO OAGL (no noticeable difference).

A few insights from my testing:
1) Build quality: high quality build that feels great in the hand.
2) ZWO Filter wheel Compatibility: fits the fastener pattern but as outlined above, you need to purchase 4 x fasteners which do not come in box. I brought my ZWO screws with the Indigo screws to my local fastener shop and it was easy to match (i used the Indigo length as a guide).
3) Helical Focuser: you cannot adapt the ZWO helical focuser onto the indigo if you were wondered . But, it works perfectly fine to just use the screw on the side with micro adjustments by hand. Yes, it is not as good as a helical but it took me literally 2 minutes to get a good position. This could be an issue if you don't have a really good guide camera. I use the 174mm which is amazing.

This is a great  option for anyone looking to purchase an OAG. I personally would recommend purchasing this over the ZWO or QHY as it future proofs any back focus issues you may have.

Included images are --> Esprit 100  setup hooked into an Esatto 3" ASI 2600MM, ZWO OAG (w/red helical) vs Pegasus indigo OAG front and side.

Of possible interest here. The Indigo has no  fine focus adjustment so can take some time to focus. There is one commercial 3D printed focuser I am aware of:

Commercial 3D printed (not me)

I have also designed a less sophisticated focuser for 3D printing for those with a printer. I have yet to test it due to lack of clear skies but it should work and does fit. Not as fancy as the one above, but the price is right at a grand total of $0.00 !
