Dear AstroBinners,

I have a simple yet challenging question.

How do I attach my ZWO ASI585MC to Samyang 135mm f2 lens?

My samyang lens has the Sony E mount type, here is an image of it;

What would be the easiest way to connect the two? Simplicity is my prioriy here.

Also, if possible, plz attach links to the hardware you mention.

Thank you all very much!

Wrong choice mate, that's why they are cheaper than the rest. Can't use filters with those AFAIK. Anyhow, here's the adapter:

Can I somehow add filter drawer into this setup? Or maybe just directly screw the filter onto the camera? There must be a way to use filters

You can't. Unless you want to use front filters but they don't come cheap, assuming that there are any!

Hello Alien_Enthusiast,

I also bought a Sony mount type, but I converted mine to Canon, and right now I’m not even using the canon mount.
I bought from FLO the Samyang to M48 adapter.

Here’s how I did the modification..

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/D6vdT1ekjNJVjU8C/?mibextid=WC7FNe

This is the adapter that I’m using right now on mine:

If someone tells you it’s, not possible.. Tell them yes it is. You only need an old samyang for parts with canon mount (is really simple to find), a screw driver like the clock makers use and five minutes of your time. If you use the FLO M48 adapter or the Astrodomium adapter, you only need from the old samyang lens for spare parts the black ring that sits between the bayonet and the ring for adjust the aperture. I even made a second mod in order to adjust the infinity focus on the right position.
But yes it’s possible and I’ve done it! At the time I only had available the Sony E type mount. The canon version was in back order and could take a while. So I went to the Sony version, and because it was Sony the price was about minus 220 dollars of diference between the two, meaning that the Sony cost me around 300€ in Europe.

Regards, Cesar

@Observatório Astrográfico do Boqueirão

Thanks for comfirming that the samyang to m48 adapter works for Sony mount; I'm also trying to help the OP; What's the backfocus requirement for Sony E lenses? I know for Canon it was 44mm.

Messierman3000 you need to diasemble part of the lens mount in order to use the adapter. Check my post above in order to see what I made in order to make it work. But once you do, the spacing is around 44mm give or take. I'm also using some fine tuning adapters of taking the spacing in the proper place. I can measure from my lens, but I bet this could change from lens to lens, since my also have de modification on the infinity focus. But the minimum is 44mm of backspacing.

Clear skies,

Cesar
