Hi everyone,I'm considering submitting some of my recent images to AAPOD2. However, I've encountered a hurdle. They have a 10MB upload limit, whereas my image file sizes range between 13MB and 60MB. I'm seeking a method to compress my PNGs without losing quality. I've already tried some websites like TinyPNG, but they also have an upload limit.

For additional context, I have access to Photoshop and Pixinsight, but haven't found a suitable compression method within them. Any suggestions?

Have you tried using the resample process in Pixinsight? it provides you with different interpolation algorithm options and some control over how they are applied. I don't understand the maths behind it all but it seems to be the best-suited process in Pixinsight.

Hi Chris. I've tried resampling, but my stars become square like. Not sure if that's because i undersample with my redcat 51

I do not know anything about how AAPOD2 handles images. But I can provide you advice from Salvatore Iovene relating to AB, but also with some good general advice. He is suggesting not to use PNG files for astroimages and that 95% quality jpgs are his recommendation, as they do not typically show compression artificats. Have you tried saving as a jpeg and see what it looks like. On AB tiffs are converted to jpegs for proper rendering in most browsers.

The only other suggestion I have is to contact AAPOD2 and get their suggestions. I find it odd but there doesn't seem to be any guidance on their site on image formats, size requirements, compression that is accepted, or recommendations.

Thanks for the advice Rick, this clarifies a lot. I did try converting some of the images to JPG once, but not at 95% compression. Gonna give that a shot.
